Governor proclaims May 9 Ohio Tourism Day; 2017 tourism economic impact to be released
In celebration of National Travel and Tourism Week (May 6-12, 2018), TourismOhio is hosting Ohio Tourism Day on May 9 on the Ohio Statehouse West Plaza in Columbus. The free event will showcase 90 tourism experiences from across the state that will share some of the joy, happiness, and excitement awaiting Ohio travelers this year.
“Ohio Tourism Day is the perfect opportunity to Find It Here.,” said Ohio Tourism Director, Matt MacLaren. “The weather is warming up, school is almost out, and it is a great time to plan your next trip at Ohio.org.”
During Ohio Tourism Day, visitors can enjoy live music, see animals from the zoo up close, sign up for giveaways, hop on a wave runner simulator, tap their feet along with Irish step dancers, take a virtual trip to many of Ohio’s incredible destinations, interact with mascots, plan their Ohio trip and more. The event will be emceed by Emmy award-winning TV personality Cameron Fontana. A full list of participating attractions and events is available at Ohio.org/TourismDay.
Exhibitors from across Ohio will be in attendance, representing local restaurants, attractions, hotels, visitor bureaus, retailers, sports teams and more. All exhibitors, attendees, tourism businesses, and people planning their Ohio trips are encouraged to post their photos from the day with #OhioFindItHere and #OhioTourismDay.
During remarks beginning at 11:00 a.m., David Goodman, Ohio Development Services Agency Director, and Matt MacLaren, TourismOhio Director, will release Ohio’s 2017 tourism economic impact data.
