A member of the USBWA Oscar Robertson Trophy Midseason Player of the Year watch list and Julius Erving Award candidate, Bates-Diop was named Big Ten Player of the Week four times this season and earned Naismith Trophy, USBWA and NBCSports.com National Player of the Week honors Jan. 8. The 28th player in Ohio State history to eclipse 1,000 career points and 500 career rebounds, Bates-Diop sits 38th in program history with 1,195 career points.
Ohio State, ranked No. 13 in the most recent Associated Press Poll, opens Big Ten Tournament play at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Madison Square Garden in New York. Ohio State will face either No. 10 seed Northwestern or No. 7 seed Penn State. The Buckeyes enter the tournament as the No. 2 seed.
